The California Travel and Tourism Commission's latest television advertisement
campaign starts airing this week.

The spot, called "Work," was produced by Sacramento's MeringCarson and will be launched nationwide.

The ad spot plays off the notion that in California, even work is play.

The 30-second spot features actress Teri Hatcher, director-actor Clint Eastwood, professional skateboarder Paul Rodriguez Jr., professional cyclist Levi Leipheimer, golfer Phil Mickelson, songwriter Chris Isaak, winemaker Andrew Firestone and actor Rob Lowe.

The commercial closes with an invitation from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver to visit the Golden State. The ad airs on major broadcast and cable channels.

Every spring, Shakespeare Festival/LA hosts an evening of intimate, warm and entertaining theater, as some of today’s finest actors gather to participate in a staged reading of one of Shakespeare’s well-loved comedies.

Co-chaired by Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks, this annual tradition raises awareness and funds in support of Shakespeare Festival/LA’s programs.

For this year’s Simply Shakespeare event, held on Monday, April 23, 2007, once again the Freud Playhouse on the UCLA campus was home to our guests for the night. A spectacular cast read Twelfth Night.

Rob participated in the 2006 Shakespeare Festival.

Actor Rob Lowe found it hard to concentrate when on stage in London - because his co-star John Barrowman liked to display his intimate parts from the side of the stage.

Barrowman, who appeared with The West Wing star in a stage production of A Few Good Men, has admitted he enjoyed distracting Lowe from his performance, often making him laugh at inappropriate moments.

Speaking to British magazine Attitude, Barrowman says, "He's a lovely guy, very Hollywood. He was open to me as I don't give a shit, we used to joke, I flashed him a couple of times. I'd stand offstage with my pants down and he couldn't do the scene because he was laughing so hard."

Rob Lowe had no intention of jumping back into the series game when Brothers & Sisters came his way.

In fact, he had no idea he'd be doing the show until just about a month ago.

"Out of the blue," he said, "I got a call from the head of ABC, Steve McPherson, along with Jon Robin Baitz and Greg Berlanti . . . and they told me they'd written a part for me that they thought was really wellsuited to what I do. I was unbelievably flattered," he said. "The first episode was just a little 'hello'. There's more to come in January. It will be extraordinary," as his Republican politician becomes involved with Calista Flockhart's talk-show host.

Lowe just came off a string of work, including the forthcoming Stir of Echoes: The Homecoming thriller and TNT's A Perfect Day holiday movie, to be shown December 18th.

"I'm at a place in my life where I really want to do work that has a personal resonance for me," he said of the thoughtful tale by Christmas Box author Richard Paul Evans in which Lowe plays an author who neglects his family while caught in the whirl of fame and fortune.
